[vgame] metroid: zero mission [nintendo game boy advance]
i suppose, if i were to wait until i had the time to write an entry
appropriate enough for the events of the last two months or so, i may not
be posting again for a very long time, so here's a post regarding some
events of late june and possibly parts of early july. sadly, i no longer
remember enough details regarding these events to make the temporal
distinction between the two months. it should probably be noted that the
media titles mentioned above are also relevant to this time period.
i've built myself a new computer. its name is zettabyte.
while setting up the software for this new computer, i ran into a problem
that i've never experienced before. often, the installation of a piece of
software will require that the computer be rebooted. however, the new
computer is so fast that the time it took the computer to shut down and
start back up was roughly the same length of time it took for me to press
the eject button on the optical disc drive and place a bootable cd or dvd
on the disc tray. as a result, whenever i wanted to boot from a disc and
forgot to eject the optical disc tray before shutting the computer down,
about half the time the computer would boot straight into the installed
operating system before i could get the disc in.
while assembling a stool, a friend and i only had one screwdriver
immediately available between the two of us, so we took turns using the
screwdriver. in an attempt to accelerate the process, during one of the
times i was occupied with the screwdriver, my friend goes ahead and
tightens a screw with her bare hand. i was shocked. of course, the screw
wasn't fully tightened, but it was surprisingly close to being so.
due to lack of better judgment, i ended up once again trying to figure out
how many krispy kreme doughnuts i could eat in one sitting. thankfully, a
couple of my friends also participated in this disgustingly gluttonous
feast, so we journeyed the foul pits of excessive krispy kreme despair
together. i ended up consuming a dozen of those things. fortunately, the
onset of the krispy kreme headache occurred significantly later than that
of my last attempt, emerging around the time the sixth doughnut was being
eaten. again, i don't recall experiencing a sugar high after the ordeal.
however, shortly after the unbalanced meal, whenever i simply looked at a
picture of a krispy kreme, the severity of my headache would increase and
i would feel like vomiting. previously, i had thought that descriptions
of such experiences were mere hyperbole.
i walked into the clock tower's glass door as i was preoccupied with
something that i now have no recollection of. i suppose the act of
walking into a glass door ejects whatever was previously on one's mind
rather quickly. to be more accurate, i don't know if the door is actually
made of glass or not, but it looks close enough to glass to refer to it
colloquially as a glass door. i'm not sure how many times i've walked
into glass doors before, but i would be surprised if this was the first.
it is interesting how, in movies and television, a person walking or
running into a glass door usually plants a face into the door, making an
unusual facial expression, usually intended as humorous, as a result.
however, in reality, while one is walking or running, often, one of the
knees will be in a more forward position than the head, so that the first
part of the body to make contact in a collision with a glass door would
most likely be a knee. in fact, this is how i last walked into a glass
door. unfortunately, an impacted knee does not convey the unexpectedness
that an impacted face does, so i doubt collisions into glass doors will be
portrayed more accurately in movies or television anytime soon.
