so today's my birthday.  i'm 23.

i've been meaning to generate an online electronic diary like this for a
long time now.  the first time i kept an electronic diary was when i first
entered stanford, six years ago.  sadly, it died in less than half a year,
after only seven entries.

i've also tried posting to a web site that others also posted to, since
the web site and posting mechanisms were already set up, and the posting
of others could possibly also inspire my own posts, but after a while, i
felt like coding my own poster.  that was a couple of years ago.

so this is my third attempt at an electronic diary.  let's see how this goes.
