March 16, 2002 was fabulous! It was a wonderful sunny day - perfect for taking photos and other wedding activities. Everything went smoothly. Well, almost...

First off, the bride had planned the perfect wedding day schedule for the bride, groom and wedding party. 11am hair appointments for the women, lunch for all, an hour to get ready and then photos at 2pm. No problem... except that at 2pm, there was no bride. No, she wasn't donning her running shoes. She was still getting ready.

Well... if you know Pam, you know that she rarely wears make-up, so how in the world could she know it would take so long to put on? Oh, and then there was the matter of the lace-up corset-style wedding gown which the the bridesmaids will probably never forgive her for.

So, the groom and his attendants waited... and waited... We'll end this little rant by saying one thing: Thank God for cell phones.

The only other glitch in the day was the small matter of the toast at the reception. The Maid of Honor (Elisabeth, Pam's sister) and Best Man (Anmol, Navneet's brother) had been promised that they would not have to give a toast, but someone (Pam and Navneet point fingers at each other) forgot to communicate that with the reception coordinator and DJ.

All who were present have to admit that the expressions on Elisabeth and Anmol's faces were priceless when the DJ announced that they were going to toast the bride and groom. We couldn't have planned it better except that the photographer wasn't prepared to capture it on film.

  • Pam & Navneet got married, which, of course, is the most important part.
  • The bride and groom felt warm and loved knowing that they were surrounded by family and friends on their big day. To make things even better, everyone seemed to enjoy the day.
  • Martin (Pam's brother) actually managed to give the bride away despite his rule that Pam wasn't even supposed to date anyone until she turned 30.
  • Elisabeth caught the bouquet. Pam's luck continued on this one - she couldn't even aim that well if she had eyes on the back of her head. Elisabeth was not too pleased, and the resulting photos will be used as blackmail in the future.
  • Almost everyone at the reception danced at some point, including a few who swore they would never be caught dead on a dance floor! See the photo gallery for proof!

  • Our families, who have taken care of us, shaped us and put up with us for all these years.
  • Our friends, who have put up with us for many years without even a genetic bond requiring them to do so.
  • Aunt Paulette and Uncle Rich for their amazing hospitality and without whom, for many reasons, the wedding might not have happened.
  • Sasha Mitelman for taking our first set of engagement pictures - one of which was featured on our invitations.
  • Grandpa and Grandma Varghese for the reception favors - handcarved sandalwood bookmarks - which they brought all the way from India.
  • Mom and Dad Joneja for taking our invitation design and producing something better than we could ever have hoped for and also for the reception centerpieces - traditional carved brass bowls from India.
  • The long list of people who helped us in our preparations and on the wedding day and even took care of things for us while we were away on our honeymoon.
  • Our wedding guests who travelled from their homes around the world to come to the wedding.
  • Everyone who took the time to send us gifts, cards and email. It's nice to know that you are all thinking of us even if you weren't able to come in person. We have been delinquent in writing all of our thank you cards, but we haven't forgotten!
