Scientific Knowledge Discovery
An Interactive Environment for the Modeling and Discovery of Scientific Knowledge. International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 64, 1099-1114 (2006).

An Interactive Environment for Scientific Model Construction. In Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Knowledge Capture - ACM Press - Sanibel Island, Florida, USA (2003).

A Framework for Interactive Modeling and Discovery of Scientific Knowledge. Thesis presented as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master in Computer Science with Distinction in Research.
It presents the integrated framework in which I have been working to support the tasks of model construction, simulation, analysis, and discovery, with emphasis in fostering computer-human interaction (May 2002).

An evolutionary Approach to the Induction of Process Model from Continuos Data. Genetic algorithms and genetic programming at Stanford, 2002. Stanford Bookstore - Stanford, California.

Inducing Process Models from Continuous Data. In proceedings of the Nineteenth International Conference on Machine Learning - Morgan Kaufmann - Sydney, Australia (2002).
In this work we motivate a new type of problem in machine learning and propose a solution to it using the framework that I have been working on in Pat Langley's group.

Probabilistic methods
Robust Global Localization Using Clustered Particle Filtering. In proceedings of the Eighteenth National Conference on Artificial Intelligence - AAAI Press / MIT Press - Edmonton, Canada (2002).
In this paper produced with two fellow classmates we present an improvement over traditional Monte Carlo particle approach to robot localization. Its main advantage is that it is more robust to adverse conditions in the environment, in particular high symmetry.
Collaborative Filtering and Search
Sinergia (CS241 class project). It proposes an interesting approach to the task of improving search results returned by search engines.
