These pages are built on the web standards XHTML 1.0 (based on HTML 4.01) and CSS level 1. Software and hardware tools I use include:
- BBEdit
- my beloved and trustworthy PowerBook G3/400, Zippy
- the W3C's recommendations for HTML 4.01 and CSS1
- the W3C's validators for HTML and CSS
- Internet Explorer 5 for the Mac, Mozilla for the Mac
Emeritus tools I have used to create and maintain previous incarnations of my site include my old PowerComputing PowerCenter 150, PageSpinner and Photoshop.
people & places
My work at Meyer Lair, Bluedog (now defunct), USWeb/CKS (which became marchFIRST and then blew up--don't you love the dot-com meltdown?), and Reactivity has taught me most everything I know about design and web development. I am grateful to all those who enabled me to get paid to learn this stuff and also to those--often the same people--who taught me what I needed to know.
I also offer thanks to those family, friends, acquaintances, and random web surfers who have visited and enjoyed my various web pages in the past. Special thanks to Erik, whose inordinate love of standards and doing stuff the "right" way gave me the inspiration and impetus to really do this right. And extra special thanks to Lana, the best friend you could ask for, who got me started with HTML circa 1997, and has since supported me with friendship, patience, her artist's eye, and lots of hugs.
whose stuff is this anyway?
So, unless otherwise acknowledged, the content and design of this site was created by me and belongs to me. I'd prefer you ask before borrowing any. :)
