Obtaining Stanford Class Grades
So, you've just completed your class as an SITN HCP or NDO
student and you really, really want to know your grade.
You could wait weeks for SCPD to
mail your grade report, but, you haven't the patience.
What to do? Read on...
Email the instructor or TAs and ask for the grade
The class grades have to be submitted to the
Registrar the week after finals week.
Try and be patient for a few days, and then email your request to the course
staff alias or to the professor directly. In nearly all classes, I've found
the professor or the TAs to be forthcoming with class (and exam and
assignment) grades.
Look up your grade using web AXESS
HCP and NDO students can obtain their grades through the
Stanford Registrar's web browser accessible Axess system
HCP students are expected to use Axess for a variety of registration
related tasks. NDO students, however, are not told about Axess, and
the fact that they already have an Axess login is a deep dark secret.
HCP and NDO students can log in to
Axess (outside the Stanford domain)
or
Axess (within the Stanford domain).
You will need your leland ID, password and a PIN number to log in.
Here is how to find out your
PIN number.
The following procedure will get you to your grades within Axess:
- Go to the
Axess
web site
- enter SUNet ID and password to authenticate (click continue)
- click on link the Axess link
- enter PIN (click continue)
- click on For Students
- click on Course/Grade History
- click on the Term of interest
- Don't forget to log out when you're done
A screen providing an unofficial, printable copy of your class and grade
history is available from here. You can print this out and use it as
as evidence of successful class completion. In the author's company,
submitting this was the fastest way to obtain tuition reimbursement.
Obtain your grade through Telephone AXESS
Call (650) 725-AXES (2937) to review your grades. You will need your
University ID number and PIN (same number used to log into Axess)
to have your recent grades announced by phone.
Determining Your Initial PIN Number
Consult the
PIN number documentation
thoughtfully provided by the Registrar.
Changing Your PIN Number in Folio
You should change your default PIN number as soon as possible.
The following example outlines the necessary steps. Be aware
that ssh doesn't seem to work, so you will need to use telnet.

Grades and Transcripts
You can order a copy of your Stanford transcript
through Axess. They are free, and are mailed promptly. Be
aware, however, that no matter how many you order, you will
receive exactly one copy. If you need multiple transcripts, place
multiple orders from multiple Axess sessions.
Transcripts do not reflect your most recent class grade(s) for
some weeks, so this is not a fast way to obtain notice of your
grade for SITN reimbursement purposes.
