Biography

Sarah Solter has pursued a wide variety of interests since a young age. From music and dance to mediation to programming and logic, she thrives on experiencing the world by exploring a diversity of activities.

Sarah has always enjoyed logic and analytical thinking, so it was not surprising that she also enjoyed programming when she first encountered it in high school. In 2004, she graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. She enjoys applying her programming and analytical skills as a technical project lead and senior member of the software engineering team at IXL Learning, a web-based educational software company.

Music has been an integral part of Sarah's life since childhood. In her home a gathering of family or friends was rarely complete without making music, and her parents frequently turned the radio to the classical music station. She wrote her first song at age three and the melodies that dance through her head have formed a background accompaniment to her life ever since. As an adult, she has enjoyed singing in a variety of choirs, and hopes to one day be in a musical.

Sarah's passion for peace and non-violence took a practical turn when she completed a 40-hour mediation training in February 2009. Since then she has been volunteering as a mediator with the Longmont Community Mediation program in the city of Longmont, Colorado. She continues to seek other ways in which to satisfy her drive to make a difference in the world, and is particularly interested in exploring dialogue and cross-cultural bridge-building.

Sarah is a transplant from Southern California to Boulder, Colorado, where she resides with her husband and rides her bicycle as much as possible.
