Introduction

The Wall Street Journal reported, Some people believe
peer-to-peer systems like Gnutella have other uses besides trading music files, such as
searching for the sorts of information found on Web sites like Yahoo.com. (Lee Gomes, "Gnutella keeps growing--and
growing", Wall Street Journal online, May 29, 2001) Gnutella may have begun as
a media file sharing tool, but its uses and potential go beyond.
This
study hopes to offer an open forum for discussion. It
begins by describing what Gnutella is and how it works.
Second, the study provides a list of non-infringing uses of Gnutella. Finally, it invites you to share how you
use Gnutella, which will serve to expand the list of non-infringing uses. |
