This page is, of course, still under construction.
I readily admit to being a geek, and you should be too since it makes you strong. Becoming a geek, however, is hard work, but most of it is state of mind. Here are some places to get started...
Looking for some nice easy reading for those dark and stormy nights. Here are a few sites with some up to date technical references etc to start you on your way. First there is the Grand Unified CS Tech Report site, and there is also SEL-HPC Archives. I'm sure there are others, but this should be a start.
I think that functional languages are just great, and some consider me a freak for thinking such thoughts. Anyway, languages like Scheme, and ML just do the right thing. It's too bad that Apple dropped the ball with Dylan, but hopefully people like the Gwydion Project and Harlequin won't let a good idea just die. Of course everyone else in the non-academic world thinks that 'languages' like C and C++ are the greatest things ever. There is, of course, Objective C. (As if, that is ever going to catch on.) As you can see there are a lot of programming languages out there, and there are new ones being researched all the time.
I was (until joining 3Dfx that is) pretty much a hardcore Mac programmer. While it is not always easy, Mac Programming is almost always fun. (Unless ofcourse you are doing all sorts of weird low-level bit twiddling or programming in C++ :-) Anyway, my current poison for helping me track down my own and Apple's bugs is The Debugger which I was lucky enough to work on for a little while. CodeWarrior is the compiler of choice in the Mac world, but I also like things from the FSF, and am happy to hear that Apple is no longer company non grata w/ them.
The "net" is a cool place, but some people in the government have been listening to too many nuts out there and think that we need protecting from ourselves. Anyway, the EFF is a group that is working to try to make sure that the net remains that net that we know and love.
