Omar's Research page
This page is mainly a listing of research interest/activities.
My wife and daughter
have some pages too.
I just completed a Masters in Computer Science and a Masters in Manufacturing
Systems from Stanford University. While at Stanford I was a research assistant
at the Computer Science Logic Group. My research focus included
autonomous interoperable software agents and learning agents.
This is a text version of my resume.
Professional and Academic Software Work:
Java Software Development
- Currently I am developing a java based Data Mart Publishing System.
This includes a java publishing client, a java publishing server,
a set of jdbc database connectors, and a light weight web server.
I am currently doing this as the lead developer on this project
at Informatica.
- A java based server and robot which implement the Semantic Markup Language (SML).
This server acts as a robot and query engine which sucks in pages with semantic markup
and answers queries about the marked up content in pages. I did this on my own.
Software Agents
Currently, agent
technology is growing in popularity. The Logic
group's involvement with CommerceNet
is a good example of the impact agents are having on electronic commerce.

infomaster try finding
an apartment in the bay area.... Or visit Firefly for a completely
different notion of agents. (Rather than being knowledge sharing agents,
these agents learn about and categorize a user's preferences.)
General Software Development
- A Web site I set up at a company I consult for. Nothing fancy yet, just a start...
- An Enterprise Data Mart, Meta data browser for Informatica.
- Extending the HP Fusion OOD/OOA method to include simulation (to capture
problems of concurrency and distribution.)
Project Management
Since this page is primarily dealing with research see my resume for
a description of my pre-grad school work as a Project Manager in the
Oil industry.
