Amateur Radio Info

What is Amateur Radio

In most countries around the world, certain portions of the radio spectrum are reserved for use by radio amateurs; individuals who have studied the science and techniques of radio communication. Radio amateurs are licensed by governments and are allowed to use these reserved areas of radio spectrum for various communication needs with the requirement that these uses be noncommercial in nature and adhere to certain content standards. Radio amateurs are not charged for the use of the reserved spectrum - the only cost involved is that of purchasing and maintaining radio equipment. In general any individual demonstrating the necessary skills can become a licensed radio amateur.
