I graduated with a Master's in Computer
Science from Stanford in June 2000.
My interests are in databases and distributed systems as they apply to enabling
new applications on the internet. I am also interested in (re)applying my
entreprenuerial skills honed in the software and internet world, to developing
solutions to business and consumer problems using green and clean technologies.
I am currently with IBM as a WorldWide Business Development Executive in IBM Software Group. I came to IBM through the acquisition of DataPower, the leader in XML-Aware Networking, where I led Business Development. DataPower is now IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances.
Prior to joining DataPower, I was with the the Sand Hill Group working on Enterprise Research where I co-authored a report A Blueprint for Enterprise Security: Execution Strategies from Industry Visionaries. Before Sand Hill Group, I directed product management and marketing for two emerging technology firms: Jarna, an enterprise wireless middleware company acquired by Visto and Gigabeat a personalization start-up specializing in digital-media delivery which was acquired by Napster.
In my past career as an entrepreneur, research scientist, and engineer I have worked in a wide range of companies from a Fortune 50 company (General Foods, 1987) to founding a start-up in environmental biotechnology (1995). We moved the start-up overseas in late 1997 and I decided to apply my skills to exploit new technology opportunities in the software industry.
I also have a BTech in Chemical Engineering from
IIT Kanpur (1982) and a PhD in Chemical and
Biochemical Engineering from
