I'm now a CS PhD student at UCI. My new web page can be found
here.
In addition, my wife and mother-in-law have started a business specializing
in chair covers and linens
for weddings and special events. More information is available
at Forver Linens Chair Covers.

Hi, my name is Erik Linstead, and as of March 2003 I am an alumnus of
Stanford University's department
of Computer Science .
I recently graduated with my M.S. in Computer Science, emphasis in database
systems.
Before that I spent a few years at Chapman
University where I graduated in May of 2001 with one B.S. in
Computer Science, and another in Computer Information Systems.
Right now it looks like my M.S. may be the
end of school for a while for me, but I often think my future lies
in academia, and thus, a Ph.D. program. Seeing as how I have
a while to decide, I try not to worry about it too much. In the
mean time, I try to keep up on my would-be research
interests, namely databases, AI, and most recently, robotics.
About a month after I finished at Stanford, I got a job as an "embedded
software engineer" at Boeing
. So far I'm
having a good time getting to know my colleagues and all the cool projects
that go on there.
Recently I was fortunate enough to be asked to teach a couple of classes
at Chapman University, which is great because
it will help me make my decision on whether or not to go back for my
Ph.D. For Fall 2003, I'm going to be teaching
Artificial Intelligence and Data Structures. Hopefully they will
be fun courses.
Aside from work and school, my other passion is sports cars...especially
Porsches and Ferraris. In high school
my Dad and I restored a 1973 Porsche 914 1.7. After that, we
moved on to a 1969 911 which had been
converted to a 1973 RS. I still have it, though I may sell it
soon to buy an older Ferrari (308/328) or
new Boxster. It's a tough call. :)
When I'm not studying or under a car, I spend most of my time with friends,
many of which I met in the
Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics at Chapman.
Others I have been lucky
enough to know since high school and even before. All in all,
I maintain a rather diverse group of friends.
As well as being the best in whatever it is they do, they are also
the funniest people I have ever met.
Despite my major, I've never been one for fancy web pages, so you won't
find a lot of crazy HTML here.
I will include some of the obligatory links though.
My Homepage at Chapman (some
outdated info)
Maybe I'll add more here later, but who knows. Anyway, thanks
for visiting my web page. If by any
chance you would like to get in touch with me, you can always email
me at "linstead at cs.stanford.edu"
