So I'm a fan boy of this
product reviews site. Of course, I work there but it is awesome since it's got over 5 million product reviews now.
So we're trying to make Buzzillions into a site that rivals (if not beats)
Amazon in terms of quality and quantity. Though Amazon has lots of content, it doesn't always have the breadth of content that Buzzillions has. Other sites like epinions have very little up to date content. Some sites like
Yelp are about services and restaurants. When it comes down to it, it's hard to own more than 1 or 2 digital cameras so product reviews are very different than restaurant or movie reviews. I can go to 100 restaurants in one year but I don't own more than 1 or 2 coffee makers.
So this begs the quetsion of how to get this gigantic amount of content. Well, the idea is to go to the source, online retailers. the founding team of
Buzzillions worked for
Fogdog.com where we implemented a product review system that had great traction. Consumers feel a real loyalty to their retailers...way more than say websites like
Shopzilla
