When the race started, it took 30 seconds to cross the starting line. Passed 1 mile mark at 8:30. Passed 2 mile mark at 16:00. Can't remember any other mile splits. Crossed finish line at 47:00, though paper reported 47:09. Total time, start to finish, by my watch was 46:30 for a pace of 7:30 per mile.
Date: May 16, 1999, 8:00am Location: San Francisco, CA Conditions: Clear, temperature in mid 50s at start, near 60 at finish. Distance: 12 kilometers or 7.42 miles Official Time: 1:10:23 Place: 4119th (overall) Participants: approximately 75,000 runners, walkers, and naked peopleLined up 1.5 blocks from starting line, amid a sea of flying tortillas and beach balls. Didn't start moving until one minute after the race started. Crossed the starting line at the 7 minute mark. Date: July 25, 1999, 8:30am Location: Santa Cruz, CA Conditions: Clear, temperature near 60 at start and finish. Distance: 6 miles Official Time: 51:10 Place: ? Participants: 14,000 runnersPrevious run was Bay to Breakers. Did not train during the summer due to a sore foot. Waited in the bathroom line for half an hour, and was still in line when the race started. Crossed the starting line 2 minutes into the race. Enough excuses, I'll do better next time.

America's Finest City Half Marathon
Date: August 13, 2000, 7:00am Location: San Diego, CA Conditions: Marine layer fog, burned off at the end of the race. Distance: 13.1 miles Chip Time: 1:53:45 (8:40/mile pace), 10k split 50:33 Gun Time: 1:54:34 Place: 1098th male Participants: 7000 runnersFirst three miles were downhill. Last two miles were uphill. Hoped to run a marathon a couple months later, but didn't until later.
Date: March 2, 2003 Location: Los Angeles, CA Conditions: Sunny at the start, over 70 at the finish. Distance: 26.2 miles Chip Time: 4:49:08 (11:02/mile pace) Gun Time: 4:52:08Ran a 4 hour pace for the first 18 miles, then got really bad calf cramps, and had to run/walk the rest of the way in pain.

Date: October 8, 2006 Location: San Jose, CA Conditions: Nice conditions throughout race. Distance: 13.1 miles Chip Time: 1:48:46 (8:18/mile pace)Inaugural San Jose Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. Beat my previous personal record by almost 4 minutes.
California International Marathon
Date: December 3, 2006 Location: Folsom to Sacramento, CA Conditions: 40 at the start to mid 50's at the finish. Distance: 26.2 miles Chip Time: 3:53:52 (8:56/mile pace)Perfect conditions and a great course. I really surprised myself by beating my previous best marathon time by over 42 minutes.
