For a team to qualify for the state meet, it must
finish in either first or second place at CCS finals in its division.
The top five individuals not on the qualifying teams also advance to the
state meet, provided that they place 12th or better at CCS finals.

In 1995, two Leland runners qualified for the national meet for the first
time in the school's history. They placed
within the top eight positions at the Foot Locker Western Regionals.
