This letter is from James Lindsey's brother Solomon. This letter appears to have been written in haste (or by a tired person) as it degenerates into a scrawl in places.
Lookout Valey Tennasee March the 6, 1864 Dear friends I am swell at preasant. And hope you are well and harty. I received A letter from home We are in camp in the same plase we was camped in when we started [from] home We got hear on the 2 of March it was prety cold but it has got very warm and prety. We have gone to work to bild quarters and have them prety near don. Our Corps is guarden the railroad from Bridgesport to Chattanoga and the Officers says we will get to stay hear all sumer but there is no telling. The 27 Ohio Regt is on this road some whare as guards We have pleanty to eat and have soft Bread every day and eaven trout whitch eats prety well the time goes prety fast and will I supose as long as we have pleanty to eat Washington Hanmore has taken the Measles and has gon to the Hospital and Josephus Coaper has bin prety purley but has got better I shall not write for severl days to pap for I have so many to write and this will do for A few days When you write tell me how my colt is and tell me all the noos tell me every little thing for it is noos to me Well I have got tired of writing and most close write often Direct to Company A 73 Ohio Regt Nashville Tenn Solomon Lindsey
