Hello:
I was working late on Monday night when I remembered the BW-3 buffalo
wing eating contest.
Unfortunately, I ate lunch that day, so I wasn't especially hungry.
However, a free meal is a free meal. So went to BW-3 to sign up for the
contest.
They run the contest at half-time of Monday Night Football. Anyone can
enter; however, they draw the names 5 minutes before half-time to see who
will be eating. I didn't know that my free meal would depend on luck.
But luck was with me that cool October evening. They called my name,
explained the rules, and asked me to sign some papers.
I could only use my mouth to remove the meat, and if I puked, I was
disqualified and couldn't bring legal action against them.
I called Cinda to come and coach me to victory. Although I have always
considered myself a solid eater, I was a bit nervous. I had to focus on
what was really happening, a free meal.
I figured I had to eat 1 wing every 15 seconds. In theory, it sounds easy,
but when they put that pile of wings in front of me, I began to wonder. I
was eating with 4 other fellows. We sized up each other's stomachs and
swaped a few buffet stories. The whistle blew and I was off to a slow
start. Cinda was getting nervous. "I want that cruise!" she barked. So I
put my stomach into gear. My mouth and stomach were like a well-oiled
machine. When the smoke cleared, I was standing alone. None of those big
fellows made it. I signed some stomachs and left. Next stop, the
semi-finals!!
