Hello again! Well.. this is a good start... two days in a row. We'll see how long this lasts... especially 'cuz I have a ton of work to do. But that's ok. I realized today, in dedicating most of my waking hours today to a friend in need that there are totally more important things in life than getting good grades and worrying about what needs to be done. What really needs to be done is for each and everyone of us to show our love and friendship to each other, especially when they need it.
So today started at noon or so, 3 hours after my social dance class. Oh well. It's a fun class, but sometimes my body just refuses to get up in the morning. So be it. =) I spent all afternoon with a friend (friend A) preparing a care package for another friend (friend B) who really needed some encouragement. We then took her out to Max's Opera Cafe... and had the greatest food. Oh man... that chocolate chip cheesecake was amazing... and it was huge!
After that, we dropped off A (who discretely got everyone to sign a card for B), picked up two other friends, and went to Palo Alto bowl, where we all had a blast and all did pretty well. It was a great deal too... $7 cover charge, then 25 cents a game. Free shoe rental. We had so much fun dancing and just enjoying each other's company.
So then we dropped B off at her dorm, and went over to A's to sign the card for B. This done, we dropped by her room... where she was kinda startled to find 4 friends bearing gifts. I think that was the icing on the cake... she seemed so happy... so loved then. And it felt great to be able to encourage her so.
Though I didn't get any work done today, it felt more productive than most days. It's days like this that I realize how often I overlook the important things in life. I mean, don't get me wrong. It's important to learn in class and all, but there's definitely more to life than hacking away at some computer program, or studying for some exam. My lesson for the day: people are very much worth the time to invest in... the joy of their friendship lasts much longer than the high of getting an A on a test.
And on that note, I'm pooped. Though I got up late, it's pretty darn late now. And tomorrow's an exciting day of grading and catching up on classes. I better get my rest. Good nite, world, and I'll see you soon!
