[2004.02.19 2359h] [music] aphex twin \\ kesson daslef [tlvsn] the office apparently, i now owe the stanford libraries over $1000. i stupidly forgot to return some books to the libraries, so they sent me a bill. once i return my books, the fine should drop to a more reasonable amount, perhaps around $50. i'm horrid at remembering to return books on time. i traded christmas gifts with a friend about a month after the fact. one of the gifts i got was a sign book of happy bunny. the basic premise of happy bunny is that, by placing a derogatory remark next to a drawing of a happy looking bunny, the juxtaposition of the two items of contrary nature can hopefully generate humor, much like the unfortunate convolution and obfuscation of this sentence doesn't. for example, on top of my computer monitor right now is a purple sign in which happy bunny is smiling next to the statement "i love boys they're stupid". probably the last time i got a christmas gift that cracked me up as much was four years ago, when my mom surprised me with a stuffed pikachu that had a voice box that said "pikachu" whenever one hits pikachu's bottom. i just realized that the description i gave makes the gift sound like a sadist's dream, but i'm not sure how else to describe it, as since the voice box is indeed located in a little pouch in pikachu's bottom. additionally, the voice box is also removable, which led to interesting hijinks during christmas vacation that year. i found out that biting rapidly on the prong end of a plastic fork sometimes generates interestingly strange sounds, although it is probably not very good for one's teeth. to perhaps save on heating bills, stanford controls when the heating systems are turned on in most of housing on campus. personally, i find the rooms a little more heated than i would like, so in previous years, i would just stuff something in front of the heating device so that most of the hot air would be blocked. unfortunately, this year, the heating comes from the floor, so there's no easy way to block the heat anymore. as a result, my room is much hotter than i would like. sometimes, in the middle of the night, you can find me in my shorts, with the windows open and the fan running, like you would if you came into my room right now. unfortunately, i've been sick for almost a month, so i'm wondering if this heat has anything to do with it.
