[2003.12.19 0650h] [cgame] diablo ii [music] bluemchen \\ schmetterlinge i ate six krispy kremes in one sitting yesterday. i got a massive headache from doing so. it started around the time i got to the fourth one, and it was horrid as i was trying to finish the sixth one. for those of you who are unfamiliar with krispy kremes, they are basically delectable doughnuts that just melt in your mouth. they are incredible. usually, people eat just one or two in one sitting. how wise they are. anyhow, i got the idea of wanting to see how many of them i could eat at once when a friend was talking to me about sugar highs. i don't recall ever having a sugar high, although i have been told that i act like i am on one a lot. strangely, by the end of the experiment, i was significantly more sedated than i was at the beginning of it. i wonder if it is even possible for me to achieve a sugar high. in a possibly related note, i have been known to fall asleep after drinking large amounts of caffeine. around thanksgiving, i've noticed that i seem to like whole berry cranberry sauce. i bought myself a jar and two cans of the stuff last week, and earlier this week, i tried eating it straight. i was pretty surprised that i could easily go though a can of the stuff, without it being a side dish to anything. in retrospect, i believe i put myself through significantly more sugar with the cranberry sauce than i did with the krispy kremes. one jar of cranberry sauce appears to contain roughly 200 grams of sugar, while one krispy kreme contains only about 9 grams of sugar, making my krispy kreme ordeal worth only around 54 grams. however, the scary thing is that these doughnuts contain roughly 13 grams of fat each. i believe the problem of the dirty water spewing pipe in the kitchen has finally been solved. apparently, some roots had grown into the pipes, and after they were cleared out, the open pipe appears to spit out dirty water no longer. the condom is still there, but it no longer inflates. when teaching a foreign language, i think it would be very useful to expose students to significant amounts of current popular culture associated with that language. listening to the song mentioned above, i have been brushing up on some of my rusty german as well as adding a few new words to my german vocabulary. looking back at the language courses i have taken over the years, a good portion of the vocabulary that i still remember after all this time was associated with songs, television shows, and whatnot. adding more exposure to popular culture would probably interest the students more as well, making learning a foreign language more fun than rote.
