so, recently, i did an ego search on google, and i found out that last
year, a graduate student from a social science department here at stanford
wrote me in for the position of the representative of the school of social
sciences in the graduate student council.  this totally cracked me up.

for those of you who are unfamiliar with my background, it should be noted
that i am probably ineligible to be the representative of the graduate
students of the social sciences here at stanford, largely due to the fact
that i do not belong in this group.  this minute detail notwithstanding,
i found the vote for me rather unexpected, most probably due to the fact
that i wasn't running.

however, i am quite interested to know who the person who cast the lone
vote for me is, as well as the motivation for writing me in.  perhaps that
person will stumble upon this page someday.  indeed, if you are reading
this, i would like to thank you for your support, as well as the enjoyable
laugh i had when i discovered that i was the recipient of your vote.
