Stanford Class of 1996 5th Reunion Class Page

Did you ever paint a picture?
Let your mind fashion a future?
When you bade adieu to alma mater,
Did you plan then, did you ponder?

A new career, an unfamiliar city;
An expedition to a foreign country;
A new name perhaps... a new family;
Change the world; make lots of money.

Who's been steering those bygone years?
What's your score through the laughter and tears?
Take stock, reflect; don't stay in arrears.

Ambition. Accolades. Affluence. Achieving.
Bending. Borrowing. Brimming. Basking.
Careering. Carousing. Conniving. Contemplating.
Disenchanted. Discouraged. Doubting. Disbelieving.

Been there, done that, got a ribbon.
Time and chance make no exception.
You may have fame, fortune, friends and relation;
Romance, health, security and suntan lotion.

Yet is it your practice when driving to slow down,
To behold the sunset upon the golden ground?
Do you often pause to drink in the sound,
The opus of nature, the melody all around?

Do you conquer your fears, courageously?
Do you laugh and jest; can you smile sincerely?
Are you able to see yourself clearly?
Have you forgiven someone lately?

Inexplicably, do you still yearn?
Hitherto, does your heart yet mourn?
What is that longing within, that burn?
Why does your soul suddenly feel forlorn?

I've found, verily, the answer for me.
If you would indulge your curiosity,
Allow me to share my discovery:

tells a story.
